Elemental living with Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the 5,000 year old, ancient healing system of India and translates as the “science of life.” It is a living science that flows with time and with ever changing rhythms of nature. It is often called the sister science of yoga.

Ayurveda teaches us that we are made of the same five elements (panchamahabutas) found throughout nature. Ether, air, fire, water, earth. We can find harmony in life by gaining awareness of how these elements show up in our lives as qualities – the 10 pairs of opposites. (Visit blog page to learn more.)

When can begin to find balance in our lives by applying the opposite. There is a golden rule in Ayurveda – like increases like and opposites balance.  If we are cold, we add warmth. It can be that simple.

Ayurveda emphasizes how critically important a strong digestive fire (agni) is for  overall health and well being. We are not only what we eat, we are what we digest – physically and mentally. A weak agni promotes dis-ease and emotional imbalance. A strong agni also promotes immunity, balanced emotions, vitality and love for life.

Ayurveda sees us as the unique individuals we are. We find healing by addressing these symptoms at their root cause by making small but impactful and sustainable shifts, slowly awakening your inner knowing.

We live in busy and stressful times. Many of us are constantly on the go, finding ourselves unable to relax. We have become disconnected from nature, seasonal living and a daily routine.

This hugely impacts our overall health creating symptoms such as fatigue, digestive issues (constipation, bloat, pain), joint pain, anxious thoughts, fear, insomnia, dry skin, restlessness, headaches. The list goes on! These are all signs of vata (made up of ether and air) imbalance.

We swing on the pendulum of go, go, go then inevitably crashing.

There is another way!

In an Ayurvedic Health Consultation, I work one on one with you, reviewing your health history and goals, spending time getting to know YOU and together we create a tailored plan that includes diet and lifestyle as well as yoga, meditation and breath practices. We find what works for you. We build a rhythm that allows for you to start finding health and balance. It’s time to feel good and it’s simpler than you think.

Simple, Sustainable Change

"A slight change in your daily habits can guide your life to a very different destination."

Take our dosha quiz to find your dominant dosha

Ayurveda is a vast, ancient healing system.  Ayurveda teaches us we are composed of the same five elements found throughout nature. This quiz will help determine your dosha (elemental makeup).  Knowing your dosha can help us to tailor your lifestyle for optimal health, wellness and vitality. It gives insight into our tendencies and how the qualities express themselves in our lives. This is where our opportunity for change and inner awakening and balance lies.
